“I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?”
There are lots of themes in this story but I think the most emphasized one is a lesson about a good friends. so I would like to talk about my friend now as a reading journal of this book. I also had the time as a twelve years old girl and also I had friends like Gordie. What is different with Gordie was that I had different sex friends, "boy" friends. Since I had lived in the small town, there were only few friends in my school. So I couldn't have any chances to choose frinds to play with. Therefore, I had more boy friends than girl friends and therefore, I was naughty enough. when I was elementary school I used to play with slingshot instead of dolls, I could run faster than any other boys in our town. But Of course, they didn't have any interest in studying so that they made me hard to study.
Now, I'm seventeen. Also, the environment changed a lot. Now i'm in the KMLA where the best high school in Korea. Also the friends around me are very different from what I had before. I had naughty boy friends when I was seven but now, I have so smart friends . Some of them are so smart that they can speak English almost like a native English speaker and some of them are so good at math that they can solve mathmatical problems like a mathmatician. Also, some of them are so talented at language that they became a member of the national team. Therefore, I always feel so proud of them although I easily feel sense of inferiority. Also, because of those smart friedns, I feel I became a person in the high level like them too.
Like this, I have had so different two types of friend so far. One of them was so pure that made me pure too, however, they never studied harder. The other type of friends was so great and competitive that makes me study hard and to be a great person as well. But what I want to say is that, both of them were valuable enough for me in different type. To say again, there should be no criteria in chooing or making friends. We should not judge friends by their ability to study or their home environment. The time I spent with my small town friends gave me most precious memory of my life. Nothing can be changed with it. Most of all, it made me to be pure as well as them and they gave me a precious memery between friends. Now I know how it is valuable for me. In conclusion, we should not judge a friend by its ability to study or home back ground as I said. See? since Gordie had so nice friends, he could have that kind of precious memory in his life, although they didn't have good parent or studied hard. It shows!
Now let's look around to find a good friend. If there is one who smiles at you since you had eye contect with him or her, just go to them with some chocolate and say "I love you♥" to him or her.
